Healing hints from the kitchen

(Sodium Bicarbonate) - Baking Soda, apart from its uses in baking, is an effective cleaner, neutraliser, and 'buffer' in the human body.

- To clean discoloured teeth

- To neutralise allergic reactions to food

- To treat skin

- Bites and Stings

- Burns

- Chicken pox spots

How To Use:

To clean teeth - Mix together the following 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda, 1 teaspoon of Salt and 1/2 teaspoon Ground Sage. Use as a toothpaste.

Allergic reaction to food - Mix together 1 teaspoon Honey, 1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar in 3/4 cup of warm water, lastly add 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda. The mixture will fizz and make a pleasant drink. This mixture is particularly good for children who become hyperactive on food additives and food colourings or who feel ill after a children's party.

Burns, Sunburn, bites and stings - Mix Baking Soda to a liquid paste with water. Apply frequently to the burnt or stung area.

Chicken Pox - Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to a bath. Soak 30 minutes. Mix Baking Soda to a liquid paste with water and apply to the chicken 'pox' frequently.
